We’ve been cleaning out the tunnels on and off on the good days for the last couple weeks. But, it is time to start planting, so we’re working a little harder.

The garlic is growing and we’ve taken opportunity to start getting extra water to it on the sunny days.

We’re enjoying seeing what has overwintered, as we are still learning which crops will come back over the winter months. The snapdragons never died and were still green, but we took them out to make room for new crops. We have one patch of chard that is still green, and a handful of smaller fall kale plants that we planted last fall. And a bed of green onions, several leeks, and some bulb onions. Some we will pull and toss, as they are in the way for this year’s crops, but we’re learning what we can depend on to come back so we can plan for that in the future.

We’ll be filling the beds as soon as we get past this weekend, with the cooler temperatures. We don’t heat the tunnels, so we watch the cold weather, too.
